Everything you do on one device stays on that device and needs no account. Sync is opt-in, and a PDF only leaves your device for AI generation after you agree. On iOS, iPadOS and macOS 27 it goes to Apple Private Cloud Compute first. Read the privacy policy.

No. Creating, importing and studying decks work without one. You need an account only for sync between devices and for AI deck generation. You can sign in with an email code, with Apple or with Google.
Everything you do on one device is free: creating and importing decks, studying, statistics, exporting and deleting your account.
Sync between devices and AI deck generation come with the MemoCards Monthly subscription, bought in the App Store. The price and any free trial are shown there before you confirm.
Sync pauses. Nothing is deleted: your library stays on each device and on our server. Changes you make in the meantime stay on the device where you made them and sync the next time you subscribe.
Yes. The subscription belongs to the Apple Account it was bought with, so every MemoCards account you use on devices signed in to that Apple Account is covered.
It does not follow a MemoCards account to another Apple Account: on a device signed in to a different Apple Account, sync stays paused even with the same MemoCards account. See the Terms of Use.
Yes. Open an .apkg file and MemoCards rebuilds its deck hierarchy and keeps the note tags. Scheduling and review history are not imported yet, so cards start fresh. CSV, TSV and TXT word lists work too, including Anki's plain-text export.
MemoCards uses the SM-2 algorithm. A new card goes through short learning steps (1 and 10 minutes) before its first interval in days, and each rating (Again, Hard, Good, Easy) sets how long it waits next. You can adjust the first intervals in Settings, and each deck has a daily limit for new cards.
Choose a PDF, and MemoCards writes a deck from it that you review before saving. On iOS, iPadOS and macOS 27 the app tries Apple Private Cloud Compute first. Otherwise, after you agree, the document's text is processed by Google (Gemini) or Anthropic (Claude) on our behalf.
The PDF needs a text layer, so scanned pages without one are not supported. AI-generated cards can contain mistakes, so check them before you rely on them.
Yes. Export any deck or your whole library as a MemoCards archive, which you can import again on any device. Exporting never needs a subscription.
Open Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. That deletes your account and everything stored with it on our server, and then clears the device. You can also write to contact@memocardsapp.com.
